
BELFAST ? The Camden Hills girls got an outstanding performance from Hayley Buckheit and faced an equally good performance from Belfast?s Victoria Overlock in a 1-0 road win Friday.
Camden Hills scored their lone run in the top of the fourth inning. Buckheit doubled to lead off the inning. Sarah Steele hit a fly ball to right field that was deep enough to move Buckheit over to third with one out. The next batter, Heather Eaton, laid down a perfect squeeze bunt down the third base line as Buckheit raced home with what would be the only run needed for the Windjammers to capture the win.
Camden Hills is now 11-4 on the season with just Mount View left to play. The Windjammers are currently in third place in Eastern Class B behind No. 1 Medomak Valley and No. 2 Hermon. Belfast is currently at 9-6 sitting in 8th place in Eastern Class B with No. 1 Medomak on tap to close out the regular season.
Buckheit pitched seven innings allowing six hits and no walks while striking out one.
Overlock pitched seven innings in the loss allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out 10.
Hitting for Camden Hills were, Buckheit (single, double, run), Abby White (2 singles), and Eaton (RBI).
For Belfast, Killyan Richards (2 singles), Hayley Rae, Overlock, Morgan Mansfield and Krissy Kelley (single each).
